The goal is to provide healthy and affordable grocery items and ready meals without compromising on quality. The first store opened in Dorchester, MA and welcomed first visitors with shelves full of surplus and aging food items.

On a personal visit to the store we noticed that the prices are actually cheaper than other popular retail marts and regular neighborhood stores. At the Daily Table store in Dorchester, MA canned vegetables are selling for 50 cents each and a dozen eggs for 99 cents. Potatoes are 49 cents a pound and bananas are 29 cents a pound.

“We’re trying to reach a segment of the population that is hard to reach. According to a spokesperson from Daily Table food items nearing sell-by dates are not necessarily bad quality.
